Why we’re running
Dues were raised improperly. Increases above 3% without a membership vote violate our CC&Rs (Article IV, Section 3a).
Unacceptable Service delays. Some residents wait 6+ months for basic service requests.
Failed to pay our bills resulting in utilities being shut off and a near-loss of insurance. The buck stops with the board. We need responsible oversight.
Community in visible disrepair. The community has rotting wood and obvious visible disrepair. Our board is not proactively maintaining our homes.
Delayed and Skipped Election. Board members ignore elections and exceed our 3-year term limit (Bylaws Article IV, Section 2).
Our budget doesn’t add up. Over 25% of funds are budgeted for vague items like “office supplies” and “electrical work” with little transparency. We even have reserve funds for non-existent fountains. Our reserve study is predicated on made-up values, claiming our dues are $675 a month!
$11,945 wasted on lawyers fees in 2024 to push an unpopular parking rule change that has not improved anything.
Missed meetings: The board failed to hold 25% of monthly meetings in 2024.
Real Homeowners, Real Consequences:
“My home sat on the market for months, and I had to sell at below market value.”
“Multiple buyers walked away because of the HOA.”
“Questions asked to the board members fell upon deaf ears. They refused to return my calls”
– Mark Melheim, 7 Viento
“A tree damaging my home’s foundation was reported in November 2024. It needed to be removed quickly to sell my home. Nine months later and it’s still there.”
– Sana Awan, 10 Viento
At our Oct 2024 in-person meeting, a realtor attended to tell us that selling homes here is 'harder than normal due to our HOA board’s neglect'—she had to pay thousands out of pocket for repairs the HOA should have done.
Our community deserves better. That’s why we’re running.
